Official municipal pickup timing for Neptune Township
Trash Day
Trash is collected once per week by zone: Mondays for Zone A, Tuesdays for Zone B, Thursdays for Zone D, and Fridays for Zone C (Ocean Grove receives twice-weekly collection on Mon/Thu or Tue/Fri depending on area).
Recycling
Single-stream recycling is collected every other week on your designated zone collection day (Ocean Grove is collected on Wednesdays).
Yard Waste
Brush and yard waste are collected curbside once a month during your designated zone week; seasonal loose leaf vacuum pickup runs from mid-October through December.

Blue Bin (Trash)
All household trash must be INSIDE the Township-issued blue autocan. Absolutely no bagged trash lying next to the autocan will be picked up. Cans must be placed 3 feet away from obstructions.

Placement

Curbside bulk pickup is tax-funded for standard residential quantities. Extremely large move-outs or contractor waste may require a private dumpster.
Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If your scheduled garbage or recycling collection falls on a recognized Township holiday, your pickup will automatically be moved to WEDNESDAY of that week.
Yard Waste Exception
Monthly bulk and brush zone schedules typically span the whole week (Monday-Friday) and are generally unaffected by single-day holidays, but placement on Sunday night is crucial.
Ocean Grove schedules have distinct holiday adjustments compared to the rest of the automated zones; residents should check their specific zone calendar PDF.

Do Not Bag Recyclables
Neptune's single-stream recycling program requires items to be loose in the green cart. Any recyclables wrapped in plastic grocery bags will be treated as contamination and may not be collected.
Keep Grass Out of the Garbage
Do not put grass clippings in your blue trash can or green recycling bin. Either leave clippings on your lawn to fertilize it or transport them to the Heck Ave Recycling Center.
Don't Mix Bulk and Brush
When placing items out for your monthly zone collection, you must create entirely separate piles for bulk items (like furniture) and brush/yard waste. Mixed piles will be rejected.

October - DecemberLoose leaf vacuum pick-up season generally begins in late October or early November and runs through December 31st. There are no set daily dates; crews collect throughout the entire township continuously.
Late Autumn
NovemberThere is strictly NO standard brush collection during the entire month of November, as all DPW resources are diverted to the loose leaf collection program.
Severe Weather
Year-RoundIn the event of heavy winds, Neptune Township advises residents not to place green recycling carts or bundled cardboard at the curb to prevent debris from blowing into streets and storm drains.

What should I do if my garbage day falls on a holiday in Neptune?
If your scheduled automated trash or recycling pickup falls on a Township-observed holiday, the DPW will collect your bins on Wednesday of that same week.
Can I put my yard clippings and leaves in plastic bags?
No. Neptune Township no longer collects yard waste in bags or containers. Brush and limbs must be placed loose at the curb. Leaves are vacuumed loose in November and December.
Where can I throw away an old TV or computer monitor?
Curbside e-waste pickup is permanently suspended to prevent theft. You must bring all electronics with cords to the Neptune Township Recycling Center at 2201 Heck Ave. Do not dismantle the TV before drop-off.
When does the Township pick up bulk trash?
Bulk trash is collected once a month based on your Zone (A, B, C, or D). You should place your items at the curb on the Sunday night of your designated week, and trucks will collect it sometime between Monday and Friday.
